About Virginia Allain and Gail Lee Martin

I’m a retired librarian living in Florida. I’ve also lived in Ohio, Maryland, Australia, Texas and New Hampshire.

My mom, Gail Lee Martin, lived her whole life in Kansas. She raised six children and once they all left home, she started writing. In her 80s, she had two books published. My Flint Hills Childhood: Growing up in 1930s Kansas and Clyde Owen Martin: Family Memories of His Life and Times. At age 88, she suffered a broken hip and several heart attacks before passing away in January 2013.
